Many philosophers and others have opined on love over the years.<\/p>\n<p>Plato said that love is a grave, mental disease.<\/p>\n<p>Oliver Wendell Holmes was far more optimistic about love, saying, \u201cLove is the master key that opens the gates of happiness.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Another said, \u201cLove makes your soul crawl out from its hiding place.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Even another said, \u201cLove is the only sane and satisfactory answer to the problem of human existence.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>So what exactly is love? The Bible tells us that God is love.<\/p>\n<p>One of the clearest definitions of true love is found in 1 Corinthians 13:<\/p>\n<p>Love never gives up. Love cares more for others than for self. Love doesn\u2019t want <a href=\"http:\/\/photobucket.com\/images\/agape%20love\" target=\"_blank\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright\" src=\"http:\/\/i293.photobucket.com\/albums\/mm52\/ranoQpunk\/agape_cross_logo_03.jpg\" border=\"0\" alt=\"agape Pictures, Images and Photos\" width=\"176\" height=\"175\" \/><\/a>what it doesn\u2019t have. . . . Isn\u2019t always \u201cme first\u201d . . . Doesn\u2019t keep score of the sins of others . . . Puts up with anything, Trusts God always, Always looks for the best, Never looks back, But keeps going to the end. (THE MESSAGE)<\/p>\n<p>If you love God,do what He says!<\/p>\n<p>That is a perfect example of God\u2019s love for us! And our love for Him should be a response to that.<\/p>\n<p>The Bible says, \u201cWe love Him, because He first loved us\u201d (1 John 4:19). And one of the ways we show that love is through our obedience to Him.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s one thing to say, \u201cI love God,\u201d but it\u2019s another to do what he says.<\/p>\n<p>Getting to the very heart of the commandments, Jesus said:<\/p>\n<p>You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your mind and with all your strength. This is the first commandment. And the second is you shall love your neighbor as yourself. There are no other commandments greater than these.<\/p>\n<p>We will continue our look at the Ten Commandments tonight, finishing the first four commandments.
